However, the reality is that of the 160+ seasonal campsites, only a very few actually buy tickets.  On average, our organization is funded by 20-25 campsites, who bear almost 100% of the financial burden of raising our operating funds each year.  

In the end, the reason we sell tickets is to raise funds.  We don't sell tickets simply to give our campers a way to win money.  With that in mind, our primary goal should be to raise as much money as possible.  If we can't do that with the current group of financial supporters alone, then it only seems appropriate that we expand our group of ticket purchasers to include family, friends and co-workers.

Also, this will raise the payout of our 50/50's, which may entice more campers to buy.
