The Amazing Race Springwater 2024

WHEN: AUGUST 10, 2024

WHERE: THE WEST CAMPGROUND

OBJECTIVE: TEAMS WILL START AT THE PAVILION AND TRAVEL THE CAMPGROUND COURSE WHERE THEY WILL VISIT CAMPSITES TO PLAY “MINUTE TO WIN IT” STYLE GAMES.       COMPLETION OF EACH GAME WILL BE MARKED ON THEIR TEAM GAME SCORE SHEET.  TEAMS WILL ALSO HAVE TO COLLECT ITEMS ON THEIR JOURNEY THROUGH THE PARK TO         COMPLETE THE SCAVENGER HUNT PORTION OF THE EVENT.   THE TOP TEAMS WILL COMPETE AT THE “FINALS” IN “HEAD TO HEAD” COMPETITIONS AT THE POPLAR HILL PLAYGROUND.

TEAMS: TEAMS MUST CONSIST OF ONE ADULT (16 YEARS OR OLDER), AND ONE CHILD (UNDER 16).  TEAMS MAY CONSIST OF UP TO TWO ADULTS AND UP TO FOUR CHILDREN.  IF CHILDREN ARE NOT AVAILABLE, TEAMS OF TWO TO FOUR MEMBERS WITHOUT CHILDREN MAY PLAY BUT ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE FINAL COMPETITION.

GAME HOSTS: THE EVENT WILL REQUIRE GAME HOSTS.  THESE HOSTS WILL RUN SMALL “MINUTE TO WIN IT” STYLE GAMES FOR THE TEAMS PLAYING THE GAMES.  THE HOSTS WILL ALSO HAVE THE ABILITY TO PLAY THE GAME IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER.   THE GAME HOST(S) WILL BE ABLE TO TRANSFORM INTO GAME PLAYERS (WITH THEIR TEAM) AFTER THE LAST  TEAM HAS PASSED THROUGH THEIR CAMPSITE GAME STATION AND BEGIN THEIR COMPETITION AT THE NEXT GAME STATION.  ONCE THESE  HOSTS HAVE COMPLETED ALL OF THE    OTHER GAMES, THEY WILL RETURN TO THEIR OWN GAME AND CONTINUE TO HOST FOR ANY OTHER TRANSFORMED HOST –TO-PLAYER TEAMS UNTIL EVERYONE HAS HAD A CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE.

GAME PASSES: NON-HOSTING  TEAMS WILL HAVE ONE (1) GAME PASS WHICH WILL ALLOW THEM TO EFFECTIVELY SKIP ANY GAME THEY CHOOSE.  THEY MUST HOWEVER PRESENT THEIR GAME PASS TO THE HOST OF THE GAME THAT THEY ARE PASSING.  THE HOST WILL KEEP THE PASS AND MARK ON THEIR TEAM GAME SCORE SHEET THAT THEY USED THEIR PASS AT THAT POINT.  TEAMS THAT ARE ALSO HOSTS EFFECTIVELY HAVE TWO (2) PASSES.  ONE PASS WILL BE FOR THEIR OWN HOST GAME, THE OTHER THEY CAN USE THE SAME AS NON-HOSTING TEAMS.  THIS GIVES A SLIGHT ADVANTAGE TO ALL HOST –TURNED-PLAYER TEAMS.

GAMES:  CAMPERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT GAME IDEAS THAT THEY  WANT TO HOST ON THEIR SITE BY NO LATER THAN AUGUST 3RD.  GAMES NEED TO BE CONFIGURED SO THEY CAN BE COMPLETED IN LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES.  ALSO, THEY SHOULD BE MANAGABLE OR ALTERABLE TO SUIT A WIDE RANGE OF PLAYER AGES.  FOR INSTANCE,  A HOSTED CORNHOLE CHALLENGE COULD HAVE CLOSER THROWING LINES FOR YOUNGER PLAYERS.

RUBBER BAND SHOOTOUT: TEAMS MUST KNOCK DOWN A SERIES OF TARGETS (OR THROUGH HOLES IN BOXES) IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE.

QUARTER BOUNCE: TEAMS BOUNCE QUARTERS OFF A TABLE AND INTO A CUP TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE.

BAR CHALLENGE: TEAMS MUST COMPLETE A JIGSAW PUZZLE WITH A PHRASE ON THE BACK.  TEAMS MUST SAY THE PHRASE TO MOVE ON.

GAME MODIFICATIONS

DETOURS:  A HOST MAY HAVE TWO CHALLENGES SET UP ON THEIR SITE.  ONE MAY BE SKILL, THE OTHER PHYSICAL.  TEAMS CAN DECIDE WHICH ONE TO DO, OR MAYBE THE TEAM AHEAD OF YOU MAY FORCE YOU TO DO ONE!

THE GAME WILL BE PLAYED THROUGHOUT THE PARK, WITH THE ROUTE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER AND LOCATION OF THE HOST GAME CAMPSITES AS WELL AS STATEGIC  DECISIONS MADE BY THE ROUTE DESIGNER.
